The trading journal for Dhan traders

Dhan API sync · AI screenshot import

Dhan has no tradebook export — PnL Book syncs your Dhan trades over the official API with historical backfill, or reads screenshots. Mistakes priced in ₹.

No tradebook download? No problem.

Dhan traders hit a wall the moment they try to journal: there's no tradebook file to export, so most journaling apps leave you copying fills by hand — and hand-copied journals die within a fortnight. PnL Book goes around the wall entirely. It connects to Dhan over the official DhanHQ API, backfills your historical trades, and then keeps itself up to date — making it one of the few trading journals that can import Dhan automatically at all.

Setup is one token: generate it on web.dhan.co, paste it into Settings, and your trades — history included — flow into a review queue. No spreadsheets, no manual entry, and a screenshot fallback whenever you want it.

Two ways to get your Dhan trades in

Dhan API sync. Dhan has no file export — the DhanHQ API is how your trades come in, history included.

  • Log in at web.dhan.co, open your profile and choose Access DhanHQ APIs to generate an access token.
  • In PnL Book, open Settings → Broker connections, choose Dhan and paste the token.
  • Trades sync automatically from then on, and the connection backfills your historical Dhan trades on its own.

AI screenshot import. A screenshot of your Dhan P&L or orders screen becomes journal entries in seconds.

  • Take a screenshot of your P&L, positions or orders screen — keep the full table visible, portrait orientation, no popups over the numbers.
  • In PnL Book, choose Import → Screenshot — any broker and upload up to 5 images (PNG/JPG). AI reads the symbols, fills and timestamps.
  • Every parsed row lands in a review queue first — fields the AI wasn't sure about are highlighted, duplicates are flagged. Nothing is saved until you commit.

Automatic import is the point, not the feature

Journals fail on losing days — the day you least want to type in twelve fills is exactly the day the journal earns its keep. Because Dhan sync needs nothing from you after setup, the losing days get recorded too. Then the real work starts: tag the rule-breaks and PnL Book totals each habit's cost in ₹ per month — Price Your Mistakes shows the method, and Revenge Trading: Why Your Worst Losses Follow a Loss covers the habit that tagging catches first.

Frequently asked questions

Dhan doesn't let me download a tradebook — can I still keep a journal?

Yes, and automatically. Dhan has no file export, so most journals leave you typing trades by hand — PnL Book syncs them over the official DhanHQ API instead, including a backfill of your historical trades.

Where do I get the Dhan access token?

Log in at web.dhan.co, open your profile and choose Access DhanHQ APIs to generate a token, then paste it into Settings → Broker connections in PnL Book. The token comes from Dhan's own site — you never share your password.

Can PnL Book import my past Dhan trades?

Yes. When you connect Dhan, the sync backfills your historical trades over the API — no manual entry, and duplicates are detected automatically.

Does PnL Book support Dhan F&O trades?

Yes. Equity and F&O both sync, and fills are paired FIFO into round-trip trades so win rate and average loss are computed on decisions, not raw fills.

Will PnL Book give me trade calls for Dhan?

No. PnL Book analyzes your own past trades — it prices your mistakes in ₹ and shows your patterns. Never advice, tips or signals, and not affiliated with Dhan.
