Your firm doesn’t judge your strategy. It judges your rule-breaks.
A funded account doesn’t die from a bad strategy — it dies from a daily-loss breach on a Tuesday. Prop firms grade you on two numbers, daily loss and max drawdown, and the trades that breach them are rarely your setups: they’re the revenge entry ten minutes after a stop-out, the doubled size after two green days, the position held through news you swore you’d skip.
PnL Book is a trading journal built around that fact. Tag the trades that broke your rules and it totals what each habit costs in your account’s currency. Revenge trading: −$1,840 this month is not a feeling — it’s the exact slice of your drawdown budget that one habit ate, priced in the same dollars your firm measures you in.
Works on whatever platform your firm picked this month
Prop platforms are fragmenting — MT4 and MT5 one year, TradeLocker, DXtrade, Match-Trader or cTrader the next. Journals that rely on broker-API sync break every time a firm migrates. PnL Book’s screenshot import doesn’t care what renders the numbers: upload your positions or history screen from any platform, desktop or mobile, and the AI reads the trades out of the pixels. If your firm switches platforms next quarter, your journal doesn’t notice.
MT4/MT5 statement import
Running MetaTrader? Skip the screenshots entirely — the statement export every MT4/MT5 terminal already has is the cleanest way in:
- Open the Account History tab in your MT4/MT5 terminal.
- Right-click and choose Save as Detailed Report (an HTML file).
- Upload that file on the Import screen — trades, fees and times parse automatically.
Everything lands in the same review queue as every other import: you check the rows, duplicates are skipped, and nothing is saved until you commit.
What we won’t promise
PnL Book won’t pass a challenge for you, won’t signal entries, and won’t manage your risk in real time — anyone promising that is selling something else. It’s a journal: it shows you, with your own numbers, which habits are spending your drawdown, so the discipline your firm demands is something you can see and price rather than guess at. PnL Book is not affiliated with any prop firm or broker.
Frequently asked questions
Does PnL Book work with my prop firm's platform?
Yes. If your firm runs MetaTrader, export your account history as an HTML statement and import it directly. On TradeLocker, DXtrade, Match-Trader, cTrader or any mobile app, upload a screenshot of your positions or history — the AI reads the numbers on the screen, so there's no broker API to break when your firm switches platforms.
How do I import trades from MT4 or MT5?
In the terminal, open Account History, right-click and choose Save as Detailed Report, then upload the saved HTML file on the Import screen. Your round-trip trades, fees and timestamps come in automatically, with a review step before anything is saved.
Can PnL Book track my daily-loss and max-drawdown rules?
PnL Book journals your past trades and totals what each rule-breaking habit — revenge entries, oversizing, trading through news — cost in your account's currency, so you can see exactly which behaviours eat into your daily-loss and drawdown budgets. It reviews history; it is not a real-time risk manager and never places or blocks orders.
Will PnL Book help me pass a challenge?
No journal can guarantee a pass, and we won't pretend otherwise. What PnL Book does is show you, in dollars, which habits burn your drawdown — and most funded accounts are lost to rule-breaks, not to strategy.
Does PnL Book support USD accounts?
Yes. Every account has its own currency — a prop-firm account defaults to USD — and all P&L, mistake-cost and drawdown figures are shown in it.
